SSD Consultancy Ltd was established by Stewart Douglas to provide independent professional consultancy and technical services across the construction, building and infrastructure sectors.

Stewart is a multi-chartered construction professional with over 45 years' experience spanning architectural design, building engineering, Building Standards, construction and project management, regulatory compliance and the delivery of major infrastructure developments.

His career has progressed from architectural practice and local authority Building Control and Building Standards roles through to senior construction and project management positions, working with public authorities, private developers, major contractors and infrastructure organisations.

Professional Experience

Stewart has extensive experience across a broad range of construction disciplines, combining a detailed understanding of building design, construction methods and regulatory requirements with practical experience of managing and overseeing complex projects.

Based in Shetland since 2009, he has been closely involved in several of the islands' major developments, particularly within the oil and gas, electricity transmission and distribution, renewable energy and wider infrastructure sectors.

His experience includes senior project and construction management appointments, client-side site representation, technical inspections, quality assurance, health and safety management and environmental compliance.

Alongside major construction and infrastructure projects, Stewart has maintained a longstanding involvement in residential construction, building inspections, Building Standards and professional certification.

This combination of experience enables SSD Consultancy Ltd to provide services ranging from independent construction-stage monitoring and Professional Consultant's Certificates to specialist building performance testing and technical consultancy.
